This is a collection of my scuba diving photosI started taking scuba diving photos after I had been diving for about a year, I found not being able to remember what I had seen was a pain and also wanting to describe to non-divers what it was like down there difficult. Of course the whole thing was a vast under-estimation on my part -I got sucked into the hobby starting off just wanting to have a basic record to then wanting to improve my scuba diving photos, then finding my equipment wasn't sophisticated for what I wanted to do and so on........ I have absorbed by underwater photography and devote a lot of time to trying to improve my photographs, including upgrading my equipment to allow me to have as much at my fingertips to improve my ability to take good shots apart from simply the opportunity to take a diving photo.
I have found that the more trips I have taken (and on those trips taken thousands of photos - my last trip I took more than 5000 pictures on 40 dives), the better pictures I am achieving. Make no mistake I am nowhere near where I should be and have a long way to go - lets face it if you are going to take 5000 pictures you HAVE to get some right?. I think that without the benefit of having formal lessons or training there has been a huge amount of trial and error for me. So I am posting my scuba diving pictures here, categorising them by main species so that not only are my images available for comment and/or criticism, but also I have written a little about the species as well.
